*Shana
Myers MA, MS, LMT, RYT trained at the Esalen Institute Big Sur, CA and The Boston
Shiatsu School. She brings 20 years of experience to her practice.
A little known fact.... After teaching Art, Industrial Arts and Math at a start-up satellite program in New York City and building/facilitating Ropes Courses, Shana chose to take a much needed and deserved "break" to simply go on a hike. Thus, she ventured onto the Appalachian Trail. Ripping a boot on Mount Washington and tearing a calf muscle brought her off the AT and into town. Being the outdoor enthusiast that she is, she decided to relocate to the White Mountains, open a business, get a dog and live in a cabin. Presently, Luna and Inca are her two rescued, yellow labradors that may greet you at her office.
Shana began teaching yoga in 1999 and offers private yoga
instruction for individuals and groups at the Jackson location or in private residence.

PHILOSOPHY
|
Moondance Massage
is dedicated to heightening the awareness of others with regards to their
health and well-being. No pretensions of diagnosis nor promises of cure are
made. Our staff believes that therapeutic massage, acupuncture, and yoga serve as positive adjuncts
to the person's will to actively participate in their own course of treatment.
We believe that Health is Wealth!!

BENEFITS
OF MASSAGE |
IMPROVE
- Circulation: Massage
acts as a 'mechanical cleanser', moving lymphatic fluids to help with the
elimination of wastes and toxic debris that build up in the body. Massage
dilates the blood vessels and increases the number of red blood cells, thus,
improving circulation to muscles, organs and joints.
- Relaxation: Massage
relaxes muscle and relieves body tension while at the same time improving
circulation. The sedative or stimulating effects of massage help to control
general body tensions and lessen contractions, spasms, and muscle tightness.
- Recuperation: Massage
lessens pain and helps facilitate movement. Regular visits can help disperse
the edema that forms after injury to ligaments and tendons. Transverse massage
separates muscle fibers preventing the formations of adhesions and trigger
points. For persons convalescing from bone fractures, massage can aid with
tissue repair and lessen inflammation and swelling of joints.
- Muscle Tone massage
increases blood supply and nutrition to the muscles and improves muscle tone.
REDUCE
- Stress: During the
phase of distress certain physiological changes begin to take place.
- The heart beats faster
from increased adrenaline production.
- More blood flows into
the larger muscles.
- The functions of the immune
and digestive systems are inhibited.
- Adverse effects of stress
may manifest as ulcers, changes in blood sugar, hypertension and headaches.
Massage reverses damaging physiological
effects by inducing a relaxation response, increasing circulation and limbering
tight muscles, restoring the balance between body and mind.
- Muscle Aches lessen
due to increased circulation, passive mobility.
- Joint Stiffness is reduced by increased blood supply to the area.
- Arthritis may be
alleviated when an area is flushed with fresh nutrients and oxygen.
